Silverwood supports the work of the Mike and Teresa Sherrill family in Sapporo , Japan , who enjoy involvement in the congregations they serve through preaching, worship leading, retreat facilitation, presiding at weddings and teaching parenting classes.  Mike also teaches intercultural studies and Christian culture at Hokusei Gakuen University , a Christian institution.  Additionally, Mike and Teresa have a ministry of hospitality as they welcome many guests into their home.  Before the Sherrill family's move to Sapporo , they lived in Tokyo , where Mike and Teresa related to the Tokyo Mission Research Institute on the campus of Tokyo Biblical Seminary.  Mike collaborated with the seminary faculty to complete his doctoral dissertation, "Revitalization of Japanese Churches."  The Sherrills, with their children Isaiah, Jeremiah and Sophia, and Teresa’s mother, Juanita Thompson, have served with Mennonite Mission Network in Japan since 2000.

Sarah and Tim Koontz began a one-year term of Mennonite Voluntary Service in August in San Antonio, Texas.  Sarah, member of Silverwood and daughter of members Jim and Vicky Kirkton, is a house of teens program assistant with House of Neighborly Service.  Tim is a home repair facilitator with a repair and modification program.  Both are 2006 Bluffton University graduates.
